I've got mine 07' SE V4 , and notice that 1 full tank will only last about 300 miles...
I fill up the tank when the "E" light on, and I can only fill up 14 gallons.
I know the car is 18 gallon, and why whould toyota put 4 gallon as reserve??
So.. I figure if the "E" light is on, I can still get about 60-80 miles from the car?
(Avg. MPG is around 26 x 4 gallon = 106 mils - some room for (highway/local) & different condition)= 60-80 miles.
If that is the case, then a full tank will be 360-380miles. And I think that is about right, Anyone?
By the way, that is everyone's average miles per tank?

My receant trip to Terre Haute, Indiana from the east coast of VA through Comberland, MD around Wheeling, WV average was a shade above 33.1 mpg. I used cruse, AC on, and 87 octaine. Right at 500 miles between fillups. Darn good in my book for the I4. I got where I was going safely, some lack of HP in the hills though. Had to drop the cruse several times.

I've got a V6, and i've put on 540 miles highway on one tank with cruise and a/c. Which came to 32 mpg with 16.9 gallons at next fill-up.
And yes, the light comes on way to soon. I usually fill up when the needle is way below the "E" bar, and it always comes out to 16-17 gallons at fill-up. I love my car's real-life MPG.
Best i have gotten is 33.8 mpg. I know i need to fuel when i get to 500 miles on a tank. I agee the low fuel warning light comes on when i still have 3 gallons or more still left in the tank.
Best I've got is 460 miles before the light came on. That was on a trip north over the Grapevine and through the valley almost to Sacramento, nonstop at around 85mph. Took 14 gallons to fill it up, so thats just below 33 mpg. I average around 400 miles around town between fill ups.

Hang on there, 300/14=21.43 mpg. My fill up today was at 325miles 16.4 gals for 19.8 mpg. The light went on at 295 miles. The first half of the tank was a trip down to oceanside from the San Gabriel Valley and back at 80 to 85 mph with 4 people and luggage. I'm going to get my ECU flashed cause I want some of that 24~28 mpg all you other guys are getting. I know my odometer is a bit off because of my tire/wheel combo but the tire size calculator tells me it should only be 8% off. That would only increase my MPG to 21.5 or so.

8% off?? What size rims and tires are you running?
i just did my first tank of gas last week and i got 20.6 mpg and put in 14.838 gallons of gas.
i was around 306 miles.
the gas light does come on early though.
my jeep cherokee came on 15 miles before empty on a 20 gal tank.
there no adjustment for the light is there? does anyone know anything about this?
could it be an adjustment in the tank on the pump sensor? or is it computer operated?

Wow....I usually get somewhere around 275 for just the first half of the tank...
The most I have ever gotten was around 460 before the light came on.
But as others have noted...the light comes on WAYYY too soon.
I'm sure I could tack on AT LEAST another 60 miles once the light hits...
I'd say the I4 is good for at least 500 before having to worry about filling (although I don't push it that far - have a kid and don't wanna be stranded...LoL)
damn you all with your hwy driving!! i drive in the city all the time and i only get 250-275 per fill up(usually 15-16 gallons).. thats less than 20mpg!!
What i mean is that I usually get 300 miles when "empty" light is up.
And i figure at (city 24/hway 34) average out to 26 mpg, for 14 gallons, I should be able to get 364 miles when the empty light is on, which I'm not getting it right now, and that suprise me. Is it because the car is still new? ( I got mine July,2007, and it has about 1300 miles)
My previous car is Nissan 350Z, and I usually get close to 300 miles per full tank (usually about 15 gallons)... The main reason i switch to the Camry is trying to save some $$ for fuel, but I'm not getting the miles that SHOULD have.. Is there anything that I can do? Will there be a fix to this?

I have a SE V6 and a lead foot. Add in DC traffic and I get 26 during rush hour, 31 on open highway. I never run it much below 1/4 tank so I control where I fill up so I don't pay attention to how many gallons or miles on a full tank.

Yeah I also have the V6 and I usually get at least 325-350 before the light comes on, mostly city. It seems like the V6 and I4 get very simialr mpg, But very different HP.
