Mudguards, good investment?

Looking to get these for my 05 I4 Lunar Mist.

I've never had mudguards on my cars before. Are they a good investment? These are about $35 shipped.

Not sure if I should paint them too.

Thanks

I'm not sure about how good of an "investment" they are, but I really like mine because they seem to keep the lower door panels cleaner between car washes.

I had flat black (unpainted) ones on my 1998 Camry, and after 8 years of use, they still looked new. My 2007 Camry originally had the plain black ones on for about two months, and still looked good after two months of use. I saw body colored ones on Ebay so I bought those, and they are already scratched and scraped (after about 3 months)- I suggest you stick with plain black- It may not look as good as body color, but I think they may not scrape and scratch as easily.

Perhaps you got cheapies on eBay. My last two cars had color keyed flaps from the factory/distributor and they never chipped or looked bad.

Agreed.

Factory mudguards look and work great. My Mom has them on her Highlander Limited. They don't have any chips and look great. Body colored mudguards are hardly noticeable because they blend in. They do protect the rocker panels from debris.
