5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My wife likes the new Camry's design and what isn't to like really. They have done a really bang up job as far as the exterior of the car is concerned. My only complaint I could make is that it sits just a little too high. We are looking at this car to help with our new family, 13 month old boy. We have a Honda Civic Hatch which is a little cramped on space but worth its weight in gold..... Drifting a little off of topic.... I was wondering if the hesitation issue which had been plaguing the 2007's has been fixed for 2008? I have read many posts about this particular issue and noticed in one of the postings that October 1st was the date when the fix hit the production lines. Has this issue been resolved for the I4 Man.?
Are there any other outstanding issues with the car that ppl would like to fill me in on?
I have heard a couple people mention acceleration problems with a 2007 camry manual transmission. Mostly a delay in throttle response if I remember, and it was worse when the outside temperature was hot. I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else is having issues with their manual transmisssion camrys. I might consider buying one, but not with TSBs being released every few months, so hopefully the issues are worked out soon.
the SE I4 manual has no issues that i know of....its easy to drive, and actually pretty quick too...they manual is much better suited tlo the gen 6 4cyl than the auto it is usually equipped with
Shouldn't have said anything about the lowering because its not my concern. What is, is the normal operation of the vehicle. So the issue is more hesitation in the heat. How hot are we talking. I live in Canada and the it sits around 25 C.
Here's what info I have read from others about hesitation with the manual transmission: When driving on the highway at 60-65+ mph, very difficult to accelerate, even dropping to 4th and there is still little acceleration. Condition is noticeable about 70 degrees, and very bad by 90 degrees. Below 70 degrees not a problem. No help or explanation from dealer. I don't know how many cars have this issue, but apparently at least a small number do and there is no fix that I know of yet.

Has anyone with a manual transmission with hesitation issues tried the latest TSB? With some of the previous TSBs, there have been varying levels of sucess reported. It'd be great if this solves the problems though.
