Coolant drain plugs on block? 2002 4 cyl

Does the 2002 4 cylinder Camry engine have coolant drain plugs on the block?

If so, how many and how do I locate them?

Are there any special tricks to changing coolant (like bleeding)?

The drain is near the exhaust header.

Hey guys,

I've got the Gen5 manual and still can't see it. Is it below the thermostat housing near the compressor or is that too low?

Thanks

I should clarify I'm talking about the 2AZ-FE engine.

It looks like a water tap with a 10mm, 12mm, or 14mm bolt on the end.

I think I stuck a 3/8" (~9.5mm) ID piece of clear hose on it to make draining less messy.

Thanks for the response. Using the diagram in the service manual, it appears to be on the left side of the exhaust somewhere around level with the thermo housing.

Am I looking in the right area? Can you only see it from under the car?

The manual only refers to the radiator drain plug in the draining procedure which I found odd.

It's right at the base of the block on the front of the engine. You really can't miss it.

I've found the location from the manual but there is a coolant hose attached. Could the Australian version be different? Its the only coolant connection beneath the thermostat so I'm positive thats it.

Yep, that's it.

Where does the hose go to?

Not sure, I'll check it out on Saturday and let you know. It drops down though so that drain is not at the lowest point which is a bugger. Thanks for that.

Mine has no hose at all. There is simply a threaded plug in the fitting that goes into the block.

Interesting to see where it goes. I can verify its factory fitted as my mother in law has owned the car since new and nothing has been done to it.

Ok, the hose ducks under the compressor and is attached to a metal pipe right above the oil filter. In fact I was wondering for a minute if it was an oil line as it looks like it would drain right into the filter. Its a September 2002 2AZ which I was told was one of the first so maybe that's why it's different or maybe something unique to Australian models? Be great if another aussie could confirm. Car is all done now. Thanks for your help!
