Whats the big deal? Most car speedometers are off by a few mph. As long as its no more than that you're OK. Talk about making mountains out of molehills.

ya my speedometer is 2mph faster. My friend whos a cop tested his new radar gun on my car. I went 55mph on speedo and his radar gun read 53mph. Thought somethin was wrong wtih the new radar gun so he used the old one and it read the same. So we tried at different speeds. tried at 35 and 45 same readings. then at 60 and 65 same reading. Its nice to know that my speedo is consistant about it beeing 2mph faster, so ya. Not all speedometers in every new car is accurate. Expect some to be anywhere from accurate-4mph off. I mean i have had cops say they let up to 5mph over speed limit go most of the time unless there driving dangerously. I know someone posted something about the speedometer being off and they had all kinds of statistics they found online and such how they test them and stuff.

During my trip home tonight I decided to check out the accuracy of my speedo (kinda strange to be in slow lane going 60- traffic was light, but still):

- I tried to set the cruise to 60MPH (easier said, than done- I finally got it set at about 60.5).
- Started timer and stopped it 6 miles later, based on the mile markers (couldn't stop at 5 because a truck was blocking the marker)
- Elasped time = 6:08 or 368 seconds
- 368 seconds / 6 miles = average of 61.3 seconds per mile
- 3600 seconds / 61.3 seconds per mile = 58.7 MPH
- 58.7 actual - 60.5 reading = -1.8 error

Therefore, my speedo reads higher about 2MPH at 60MPH.

Yeah, I was bored.
