Gen6 used tires

I recently bought the 2007 se 17" rims to replace my steel 16's and still have 80+% tread life on the original tires. My only concern about getting rid of the old tires is not getting much of a return on the sale of my old rims and tires, tires especially. any suguestions?

Use the steelies as winter wheels.

Edit: I don't know how good the tires on the 16 are, but at least you dont' have to worry about road salt on your good set (I believe VA has winter...).

Also, tires for 16s are cheaper. So if you really wanted to get winter tires, it'd make for the perfect wheel.

Run the 16's untill tread is low, then install the 17's with new tires.

That's my plan...I don't have my new rims yet, still looking.

the only problem with using them as winter tires is they have a 60,000 mile tread life and only a five year approx. life and i don't drive enough to use them that fast.

What tires do you have on them?

Store them properly by putting them in a trash bag and using a vaccuum to suck all the air out. That might extend the life slightly.

I'm not sure. I just know that's a good procedure to store winter tires. I don't think Dry rot can be prevented, but I'm not an expert.

The most you're going to get for that set is probably around 300 bucks. I don't know if it's worth it to you, but that's probably all you'll be able to get.

Yeah. I'd try listing is on your local Craigslist if it's possible.

Steelies aren't that sought after, and frankly, most people who want them just want the wheels so they can use it in the winter. But since you have some decent tires on there, you might be able to get more (most times, the tread is down to 20-30% when I've seen them).
