5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm having an issue on incoming calls where the number from the PREVIOUS incoming call is displayed.
It doesn't matter if the current or previous call number is in either the phone's or car's phonebook.
It doesn't matter if the previous call was received while in the car or while away from the call.
On the phone, the number is correct (meaning, the incoming call display is the actual number calling me).
Example:
in the car, the wife calls - the JBL display shows the previous call. Finish that call the the daugther calls from her phone -- the JBL display shows the wife's number. Hang up and the office calls - the daughters number shows up.
Example, same as above, but not in the car. Enter the car and someone calls - the office number is the one showing up.
Thankfully I have assigned ringers to the important numbers, so I basically know if they are calling, but it is frustrating. I don't know if it is worth a special trip to the dealer. Had the car under a month, so I'm adding to my list of issues (security system problems, cruise control won't hold speed downhill, transmission surges and seems to go into neutral and then catches a gear. This is my first Toyota after years of Nissan. So far I am not impressed. If they offered a straight-up trade I'd go back in a second).
Oh, happens with both phones.
Anywho know anything about this display on the calls? is that normal?
Car: 07 Camry XLE, Automatic, JBL - no navigation; 1187 miles
Phones: Treo 700P with Sprint (main phone); Razr V3 with AT&T (secondary phone). Both defined to the handsfree.
Thanks.
The dealership is having a 'new owners' night this week, so this is on my list to chat about.
If it only was with the Treo, I'd say it was a quirk. But since it happens with the Razr too, makes me think it is the system. The fact there is another person out there with this at least makes me feel a little less picked on...

Is the car moving?
The incoming phone number will not be displayed if the car is moving - It should just display "Incoming".
It is a quirk with Treo 700p and 700w. I used to have the 700p from Sprint and I recently recieved the 755p... All issues fixed. I see current call incoming, battery life and signal strength.
So basically the issue is with the phone. My brother has the Verizon 700p and has the same issue when he syncs with his A6.

Interesting. I wonder is the fact the Treo is defined to the system that affects the Razr calls too?
There was a recent firmware update to the Treo's that addressed the issue with Toyota/Denso systems and many other Treo issues. My brother did the update and his Treo 700p works much better with his car now.

I had stayed away from the MR because of issues listed in many phone specific forums. But this problem had me so frustrated that I triple-backed up my Treo, made sure that family and work knew alternate ways to get me and bit the bullet...
SO far, the phone hasn't blown up, I get the INCOMING notice on the radio display (didn't before) and I get the number -> or name if they are in my car phonebook. Oh, and it is actually the correct number or person!
THANK YOU for pointing out the update and how it improved coordination with the car. So far so good.
