I dont know what you think of the 2007's but here is my two cents - a 2007 cam for me? NEVER! I have read way too many posts from people who bought one and then have a whole bunch of weird problems that sholdn't be there. Clunk on take off, drive-by-wire problems, all sort of things going wrong. If i wanted designed-in defects i'd buy a Ford. (Sorry Ford lovers but its true - i work on their junkola every day at work.) But i'm never buying a Ford either.
I'd get a 2006 or wait for a 2008 model or even a 2009 - too many problems with the 2007's for me and i'm not willing to take a chance even later when they are used cars.

I haven't had a single problem with my 2007 XLE (manu. 05/07). Not a flare issue, drive by wire problem, anything mechanical or drivability issues. Nada. What you've read probably amounts to a tiny, tiny percent of Camry owners, and what was likely problems with early 2007 Camrys. Remember the 2007 Camry production run was about 50% longer than most cars, and went about a year and a half. Many things were fixed during the fist half to 2/3 of the production run. Most 2007 Camrys manufactured after 04/2007 should be fine, with the normal few exceptions for any make/model.
That said, it wouldn't hurt to wait for 2008MY, but it is not necessary. I would do it just to have the darker wood, though!

+2. I have a 2007 SE V6 (bought 05/06, build date 04/06) and I haven't had a SINGLE problem.
If the 2007 problems were really a "tiny, tiny percent" then there wouldn't be any TSB's, would there? There are 15 TSB's on top of 2 recalls for the 2007 Camry, keeping in mind that TSB's don't necessarily correct the problem nor cover every problem one might encounter.
Another key factor is that everyone's standards on what is acceptable and what is not differs, especially on non-functional issues, such as smoothness of transmission (what exactly is smooth to you?), vibration, smells and odors, etc.
Therefore, it is impossible to say that this model year or that model year or from this date or that date would be ok... it might be ok for you maybe, but the only truth that applies to everyone is that in general, over time, a vehicle should have less problems than when it first came out... probably.
it is a very miniscue percent of camry owners with the TSB issue....it gets blown out of proportion on the site here, but at my dealer iver personally only seen 1 tsb car in my time there.....my friends who work at other dealers havent seen hardley any at all
Alot of people join this forum because they have problems with their car and they want answers, so most people here will probably tell you something wrong with their car. Now if you asked a bunch of people on the streets that have one, I bet the results will be much different.
BTW, why do you capitalize every word?

First off, there has never been a recall for the 2007/2008 Camry. There have only been TSB's. And the two events that you may call a "recall" only effected 138 cars.
--> Flare issue 3rd to 4th but it doesn't bother me since it happens only when the car's cold.
--> Clunk on take off but it doesn't bother me since it happens only when the car's cold.
--> Moonroof rattle
--> Front dash ticking noise
--> Right side roof bolt rattling
All of the rattles have been fixed. I don't care about the clunk on take off because that only happens when the car is cold in the morning (and just once).
I also don't care about the tranny flare because every time a dealer touches the car, it never gets put together properly. So I don't wanna even let them try.
In my family we've had far more serious and frequent problems when we owned an X5 4.4i. Then we had some serious problems with the alignment and tires on the ML500. Also the Bose system in the ML would compensate with speed-sensitive volume waaaay too much. 2 new head units, 1 amp and 8 speakers later, we're happy. So after those ordeals, the Camry's issues really are nothing.

I have the 07 SE V6 and other than a minor disappointment with the quality of the paint of my car I have been 110% happy with my car. (included in that is the flare issue that is gradually diminishing on my car with time. I have done nothing to rectify the issue and probably won't do anything)

geoff5093, when I say recall, I am referring to NHSTA's campaign ID number, which they themselves categorize as a recall, and consequently the dealer applies a fix whether you complain about it or not. Hence, recall number 06V096000 and 06V488000 affecting 133 and 160 vehicles, respectively. 06V488000 might be more applicable to Solaras.
I am not disagreeing that there are more owners who don't report a problem. I am saying we cannot impose our own experiences on others or imply that since I didn't have a problem, you wont either. I am on my third gen 5 Camry, the first one had no problems or complaints, the second one I successfully lemoned, and the one I have now I can't stand the transmission but other than that, no functional problems. Each Camry has a different ownership experience, each owner is affected or defines problems differently, so when someone asks what year or date is "ok", the only appropriate answer is "it depends", and
