5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Heres the deal. I called a local custom shop in my area cause i was interested in a new exhaust system for an 2004 camry. Same thing as lammydl's a dual exhaust system except i would o with doubled tips instead of singles like his. They said it would cost 6-800. im think wtf? This was on the phone with them too. Now lammys cost 385 or so. I didn't specify brand or anything like that but im wrong to think that is an outrageous price?? They said there are no systems for a camry and it would hve to be custom built. now they are a very reputable shop in the area but damn? So am i getting playd or is that just how the game goes?
For $385 my setup came with a new muffler welded into the existing pipe. He also welded to exhaust tips to match. The new muffler is a non-brand name though.

thanks for the quickness there. Mabye i dont need a whole system...Im not really getting anythign for performance wise since thats not the way to do it anyways. I just like the seeing two exhuasts coming out the back with the tips split. so pretty much lammys excpet with the duobule tip thing. Is that possible or would i really have to shell out all that money for a entire exhuast system?? I dont care about name brand shit either its just gotta work and at least look cool.
I think in the last thread on this subject I said that the boys at the muffler shop would see you coming. I was right. But really now, think. Think some more. $600 blown just so you can have two tail pipes? That's really all it amounts to. Put your money in a fire proof box so it doesn't continue to burn a hole in your pocket, please.

as far as go is concisdered my only options are the air filter, and the exhaust. i mean im not going to add an air intake cause i read on here they dont really do that much. Im getting a set of performance tires already casue it has snow tires and they rock. theres not much elese as far as speed wise. No turbos, or intakes, idk what else there really is that i can afford or want to put on it. it is a v6 so its got some power. i'll up a pic after i get the tint done on it. and to the above post hell no. Im not spendin more than 400. i want a setup up just like lammys just with instead of the single tips, dual. so its a dual on a dual i guess?
for a stock Camry, all youre really going to need is an axleback to add a little sound and visual flare .... a Muffler should be around $175 and the welding should be like $50
multiply that by 2 since the V6 has dual-exit
you could put one of these on each side for the price i quoted above ... and then you would have 4 tips and a nice-sounding exhaust:

Just a couple of comments. First, you have a GEN5 and lammyd has a GEN6. The GEN6 has dual outlets stock for the v6 so there is already room and support spots for the 2nd pipe he added. For your car, both the 4 and 6 cyl had a single tail pipe. You are going to need to be much more creative in routing the pipe for the second muffler. There might not even be any room under the car for it. Next, if you have the room underneath, you will need to replace the existing muffler with one with a dual tip, buy a second matching muffler then run pipe from the 2nd muffler to the existing pipe and tie into it. Lastly, getting a quote for custom exhaust work without the shop knowing exactly what car you have and what you want is useless. The guy that gave you the price just pulled the price out of the air to cover his ass.
