Gen5 Weird Noise, need help please

okay so, when i went to install my lowering springs, the worker told me to change my lug nuts, because i needed to buy the one with washers. So i went to pepboys on that day and bought new lug nuts with washers. This morning, i changed the lug nuts by myself one by one. After i was done, i took it to a shop to get it tightened just in case it wont loosen up. So as i was driving to work, it started making weird noises. I know its the wheels because the noise came when the wheels were spinning. It's hard for me to describe what the noise is like. the faster i go, the faster the noise is, and when i slow down, it slows down and stop when i stop. Anyone know what this problem is? thanks.

btw, my rims are IS300 with 12x1.5mm lug nuts. thanks

Are you saying that you had to put spacers on the lug bolts behind the wheels? Why did the guy working on your car say you needed to change the lug nuts? Was there a clearance problem? Did you change these >after< lowering the car? Was there a problem with clearance after the car was lowered and before you changed the nuts and added washers? Do the new nuts protrude from the wheels more than the originals?

I needed to change the lug nuts, because the ones that i bought first didnt have washers. He said IS300 rims needed washers so that they wont loosen while driving. Couple days ago when i lowered my car, i had to come back to the shop after driving ... 2 miles ? lol the lug nuts were already loosening and he had to torque them back. So thats when i went ahead and bought the new lug nuts. There is no problem with clearance at all. And no the new nuts dont go more than the ones before...

I'm thinking that guy may have given you bad advice.

I don't recall seeing any Lexus wheels that need the lugnuts with the long shank and washers on it. I don't know this for a fact though.

Can you remove a lugnut and take a picture of the wheel where the lugnut goes? If possible, take a picture of each lugnut also.

Don't drive your car anymore until you get this figured out!!!

okay, i tried like 5 body shops and they said they didnt know what the problem was. the last shop was owned by my fellow korean lol. they checked it many times over and over again, and the problem was that lug nut was too short. so i had to add 2 washers for EACH LUG NUT. now the problem is fixed, no more noises =D

TRD VVTi, sorry for not posting up pics yet like i promised you. hehe new pics will be up soon !

I wouldn't rely on two washers. To be safe I would get the correct length lugnuts fast. The place that sold you the wrong ones should exchange them you'd think.

Hurry up with the damn pics too!

Go buy factory IS300 lug nuts. My IS300 wheels came with IS300 lugs, and I've never had a problem-- and johnnyzee is correct, new Lexus wheels require the long shank and washer lugs.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Well that was my first thought so I went over to Toyota Dealer, and they charged nearly over $120 for the whole set of lug nuts with washers. so i gave it a second thought and bought it from pep boys. i'm guessing lexus dealer would be the same charge or probably even more than the toyota dealership...

Which dealership did you go to?

Almost all LA dealerships will rape you nasty in parts. Especially Keyes Van Nuys. Never go there.

My friend went to Keyes Lexus in Van Nuys to get new visors for his 2002 IS300... and they wanted $940 for 2 visors... wtf!?
