Question Wheel spacers

I have a set of 18"s with 38mm offset on my car and would like to push them out a bit more
to get more of that audi-flush fender look if you know what i mean.

are wheel spacers safe to use? if so, what is the max i can use? anyone here using them.

i ask this because my aftermarket guy says they're unsafe and that toyota studs aren't long enough and how he knows a guy who's wheel fell off. 2 other tire shops say they're ok to use but careful on their width.

Also, the front rims would not need to be as much pushed out as the rear, so 2 different thicknesses would be needed (staggered effect).

the spacers i'm talking about are the actual plates that have don't extend the studs.
here's a pic to see what i'm talking about

I have seen spacers that look like this on ebay also. I'm not an expert on wheels spacer so I have no common which type is better. I'm sure other members will tell us.

The second ones would be way too much. I would think that if you have enough threads left on the studs to get the correct torque specification (without stripping the $%^& out of them), you are ok.

i would go for something similar to what lammy has posted. the ones on the first post look like it just does push the rims out further but it doesnt lengthen the studs.

if you search for H&R spacers, T1R, or Ichiba, they have the right kind of spacers.
again, even though spacers are onyl mainly used for aesthetic purpose, they should still provide a safe ride. i believe the H&R ones come with hubcentric rings as well to lessen or eliminate wheel vibration and the like.

Yeah, but as far as our hubs are out already, there's no way we would have enough room for those stacking spacers w/studs

again it depends on how much farther out you would want your wheels to sit and if you are willing to do fender work.

These spacers come with different thickness. The one I shown is 25mm. They also have 10mm, 15mm, 20mm.

Thanks for the inputs...

lammydi, i know those are better, but are the extremely expensive approach. I needed 5-10mm to push out the back and maybe 3-5mm in the front. now I can understand that 1cm (10mm) might be much to put a spacer but haven't tried yet.

1. anyone on here use these kind of spacers (that I posted about)??
2. do you think 5 mm offset added would make a noticeable difference in appearance?
