Gen6 How long before an oil change?

Most cars are recommended to have their oil changes done every 3000 miles. 2007 Camrys are recommended to have their oil changes done every 5000 miles. I wonder why.

Actually most new cars are all 5000. Even on my 89 Toyota pickup, the recommended service intreval was 5000

Because engines run cleaner, are manufactured better, and the recommended oils are better.

You have a TRD grill? I didn't know that TRD made a Camry grill. Do you have pics? Where did you get it?

I don't care about official maint. intervals, they are usually overstated - I change stuff sooner. Example: automatic transmission fluid - better change it annually if you want the tranny to last. Their offfical version is what, 100K miles? Or 60K? Anyway...

Back to oil, I change Mobil 1 5w30 every 4K miles.

5000miles for dino oil or synthetic? what is a good interval for synthetic... I've always been changing around 6250m (10 000KM and looks liek it can last even longer)

The factory recommended maintenance interval is 5,000 miles when using the proper oil.

If you want to go longer it's up to you. Don't expect warranty coverage if you have a problem though. Toyota doesn't car what other people say the maintenance should be. They only care what their requirements are.

Oil that meets the GF-4 specification is required. I have a thread in this same forum with many oils listed.

It's not a TRD Grill... it's a TRD Grille Emblem. Sorry for the confusion there.

Just remember when considering oil: avoid switching back and forth from dino/synthetic. Once you go synthetic, you might as well stay with it. Use you free 3 oil changes at least. The 1st change should be dino.

You can extend the reccommended oil change with the type/size of the filter, the oil and the driving habits.

Myth, switching between a conventional and synthetic generally does not cause problems. Otherwise my 5S-FE would have been destroyed long before the car was totaled.

Regardless of what they say, i change my oil every 3,000 miles, and the air filter every other oil change, also, the tranny, I do a drain and refill every 12 months, just to make sure that the car runs real smooth. other things, like the pcv, fuel injector, coolant, brake pads, up front, etc.. i check them often. the serpentine belt too. but my car is a 2005 with 48,000 miles now. so i have to stay on top of it.
