5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I believe that at over 50,000 miles, all U.S.A. built Camrys will start to show signs of premature death coming down the pike. like little things, start to change in the car, fall off, need fixing etc., so at this point, owners have to pay special attention to keep the car mint and in new like condition. more care will be needed to keep them looking brand new. lol. I think in Japan and Germany (the old days), the average worker, due to the educational system in those nations, and the cultural morals and values, produced a much better high quality product. the legacy lives on in the high perfmance cars, etc... however, the USA does still hold number one position in areospace, but China will catch up soon. lol.

So basically it's all conjecture on your part. I'm sure there are plenty of Gen5 owners with over 50,000 miles and I doubt their cars are showing signs of "premature death".
the japanese have very strict policies and procedures regarding quality issues whereas in canada and usa. arnt so tight, well maybe they are but no matter what it is more strict in japan

Complete 'from your ass' statement.
Toyota has the same Lean/Kaizen policies and procedures company wide (globally) and anything less in unacceptable.

The japanese have very strict policies, but you sound like a jap fan boy. just because it's japanese doesn't mean it doesn't suck too -- there are japanese made stuff that's just a bit craptacular.
toyota cars are well made, no matter where they come from, they just have a slight difference in their bodies (ie in gen 5, front bumper is 1 piece in the US ver vs the Jap ver which has the pop outs for the fog lights.)

Well, my Camry has about 65k on the dash right now and it still runs great. Also, even when it is dirty I get compliments on how good it looks. I think that the parts are still practically the exact same so it doesn't matter as far as longevity. But I am still debating on whether Japan built Camrys really have less squeaks and rattles.

*not always true.
my vin does not have the "J" designation and i don't have the bumper hole.
but i had the popout covers- this i'm 100% sure of because i just installed the '02-'04 camry foglights (actually bought from an '05-'08 corolla S owner) without cutting the holes.

hehe then I envy you -- I want the pop outs for my bumper so I don't have to cut. I want to get the fog lights installed
I've been looking for exact directions even with photos, but I can't seem to get a clear cut answer =P
I've purchased fog lights for my car with a kit... I want to be able to switch it on and off independently as well as have it turn off when the car is off and on when the car is on.
so both ignition controlled as well as independently controlled as well. Kinda hard to find a step by step process =P

urs should have pop outs too. They have clips in the back. The foglight kit on eBAY is ran dc from the battery line so its an independent on/off switch with the rest ov the car. BUT if you leave it on.. OH MAN.
