last attempt at getting panel removal info.

dont go nazi on me trd! i searched the forum ok. and i realize im being a bit lazy. however i downloaded the online service manual for my cam and that thing might as well be in japanese. when you look something up it refers you to 500 other pages for most of what needs to be done and has these crazy diagrams with arrows going everywhere!.....ok. im expecting my powered sub (dont make fun) in the mail anyday and am still looking for some info/suggestions on removing door sills, panels etc, finding firewall holes and good grounds etc. camry specific info. anybody know any links to some tutorials?

ok im feeling nice so ill do a quick write up:

door panels

1. pop the inner cap off with a screwdriver. this will reveal a screw. unscrew it.
2. there are 2 screws at the bottom of the door panel. middle and outter. unscrew them.
3. in the door where u can put misc stuff, there is the textured rubber piece. this comes out, revealing another screw. unscrew.
4. pull the lock/unlock console out from inner to outer. this may take a little force the first few times. once this is removed, it will reveal another screw. unscrew it. dont forget to unplug the wire harnesses leading to the console.
5. behind the door handle, there is a plastic piece that needs to be removed. use a screwdriver to pry it out. stick the screwdriver in between the plastic piece and the lock/unlock knob and pry using the knob as leverage. this will reveal another screw. unscrew it.
6. finally, there are clips that hold the door panel in place. just slide your hand between the door and the panel starting on the inner side and work your way down and around the the outer side.
7. door panel is off!

door sills

all u have to do is slide your hand underneath them and pull up evenly. if u cant get your hand underneath, use the screwdriver. there are 3 or 4 clips that hold the door sills in place. after u take them off, make sure they are still on the door sills. they have a tendency to fall out after a couple of times on and off.

grounds

where are u looking for grounds? in the rear, there are grounds near the seatbelt assy after u take off the bolster(pull up and then out after u remove the bolt under the seat) any black and white wires together that u see will lead u to a grounding point and any of them will suffice. If you are looking for an easier way out, u can use the radio factory ground behind the radio.

firewall entry

up and to the right of the brake pedal there is a grommeted hole. in the engine bay it is up and to the left of the steering assy. optimally, get a friend to either be inside or outside; one of you in each location. have the person in the engine bay use a screwdriver to pry aside the grommet so that light seeps through the hole so the person on the inside can see where the hole is to route a wire or whatever u need to do. *note- u most definitely need to remove the lower cover under the steering wheel to access the hole.

hope this covers everything you need.. btw, cover the tip of your screwdriver with electrical tape so you dont scrape up any of your panels

Clark: No offense, but if you can't handle some of those things (which are fairly pedestrian) you may wish to hire a professional...or have an experienced friend help out. I can appreciate the DIY, but you don't want to mess up a panel fastener.

I didn't mean the clips themselves, but the fixed parts of the door panels and such that if damaged mean rattles/poor fitting interior or replacing the entire panel.

Yeah I know what u mean, what the actual fastener will fasten to.Using a door panel remover tool & knowing where the clips are will help alot.

If you are anything like your namesake then your panel is probably just going to explode anyway.
