5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
with the springs you can take tight turns at a faster speed, but the boat motion is still there -- the motion reduced a little bit with the springs, but you definitely need a bar.
This bar cost me 20 bucks on ebay, not the greatest, but it will do until I find a strong one that I can import -- then i'll put it on myself.
The bar adds to the effect. if you did what I did (stock --> springs (drive) --> get strut bar --> drive) you'll feel a difference gradually and understand why each piece is needed.
it's stiffer on turns and the boat motion is reduced even more.
Once the Rear Anti-Sway Bar is put on, i'll be great! I found one on ebay for 140 -- but dunno if i'm going to buy it yet.
I'm going to wait till the next pay check for that one since I still have the GR2's to put on. Which I predict will give even a more gradual stiffness.
hope that helps!

yup that's the one, I found their website so I can just wait a bit before purchasing. They will always be around -- I don't want TRds since they are over priced and whiteline is also a reputable company.
I did like that one person with the camry Front tower strut, looked nice and strong -- but I wanted to try it before I buy it =P

Hotchkis parts are more expensive because they are truly experts and make the parts perfectly. Hotchkis makes the TRD STB and it's well worth the money. I've experimented with other parts on other cars. There's no comparison.
The splash guards are nice. Did you only install them on the front?

Heh, I guess TRD is cheap, dunno -- people have different opinions. I just want to find one that's for the camry that's a bit harder than my current 20 dollar STB.
Yeah only on the fronts now, it looks odd -- but it works for a little while. I couldn't get to the back yet since I had no clearance to drill and plus my wheels were in the way, I'm going to get the people who's going to install the struts to install the splash guards since they have to take off the wheels anyway.
I hope it won't cost too much more. it's just drilling on plastic/metal.

nice!
and don't bather wasting any more money on your strut tower bar, yours is fine, it will not make a any noticeable difference if you buy a different one.
^ to my surprise, it's actually doing it's job -- you're right, it's not very rigid, but it's not like it's completely useless. Unless i'm taking a turn at a VERY high speed, then it'll be worth buying.
That SPW strut bar currentl is detailed as Airplane Aluminum and is Categorized as T6061 Billet Strength -- I have no idea what that is, but at least it's some type of description.
I'm still looking for something decent, I did want that one that said "Camry" on it -- it looked a bit more rigid.

AHHH TEMPTATION!!!! =P anyway, I've spent way too much money in the 3 weeks i've been doing this. 1500 to be honest (including installiation) dunno about the I think I might go with the whiteline for 140 for the RSB, but that TRD STB looks pretty decent -- don't like the design, but it looks nice with TRD on it =D.
Thanks, let me know how it feels -- this flimsy one actually is doing the job pretty decently I might say. I compared the ride to my gf's 94 civic stock and my ride is a lot stiffer, it use to be like a boat on my car, swaying left and right. It's really different now.
