5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
the ass was horrible looking and as I passed the front it looked exaclty like an 07 Camry. Damn the new accords are ugly. New generation camrys look so much better.
Honda East has two sitting right out front. www.hondaeastcincy.com and they're uglier in the flesh than in the magazines. They do look better than the previous generation of Accords, but IMHO, they went the direction of Hyundai with the Azera, throw gobs of stuff on it that sounds like it's nice, and looks good in pictures, but just isn't functional.
The taillights look like they were taken off of a BMW 7 series. Sound good, but does not fit the look of the car at all.
I wouldn't buy one, and I've owned several Hondas in my life.

I have seen and drove it. The 2008 Honda Accord Ex-L with Navigation and I didn't like it. The outside of the car favor a Saturn, 5-series BMW, and Acuras (TL and RL). In the inside of the car it has too many buttons and not easy to use. The center control knob is not quick and easy to use, it will take some time for a person to get used to using it. Also, the bluetooth function was not as user friendly to get connected to my cellphone or the salesman (never got it connected(paired)). Also this car came with 18's and the ride was not as smooth as mines (07 XLE). I am going to wait and see what the two door looks like before I make my decision on the 08' accord coupes. But as far as the 4 door I think it will sell because it is a Honda but it still want outsell the Camry. The Camry looks better, user friendly, and the XLE is a smoother drive...just my opinion.
i saw a review on motorweek (tv shon on speed channel) DAM I thought it was ugly! the front not to bad but the rear....... ugh. knowing that they have the same power as our V6's im sure ill get a challenge but nomatter the outcomes our cars still look better

Just my thought about the interior... somehow more buttons mean classier... I like mine clean like the camry... drove past it as well and was thought to myself wtf?
The insides are only great for people who have actually driven previous generations of Accords. For us, who usually move form a Gen4 to Gen6 or Gen5 or so, are used to the same setup of climate and audio controls. I know some people who have 02 Accords and instantly get used to the new 08 controls.
The inside is definitely nice with leather, I'd say as good or even better then our Gen6s. But then once you step outside, it kinda makes the car feel a lot worse.

I like the simplicity of most Toyota's interior, the old or the new. The simplicity is retained throughout pretty much all of the generations of Camry. Too many buttons are no good when the drivers want to pay attention to the road. Too little buttons (a la BMW's i-drive) is also bad. I think Toyota got the appropriate balance between functionality, simplicity and ergonomics.

i agree with whoever said it was an improvment over the last accord. the last one was the one to flame. honda taking cues from hyundai? lol! hyundai built thier foundation off of biting honda... ok yea, its not near as attractive as a camry. but its better than a saturn.
Yeah went to check it out at a Honda dealer hoping to also see the new coupe but all they had were sedans. Having seen it with my own eyes I can say that I'm not a big fan of these new Accord sedans...to me it looks like the illegitimate child of previous gen Altima and current Sonata.

Did we really expect any of the Camry fans here to admit to digging the new Accord?
We have a new Accord sitting in our mall, Southpoint. Initial impressions of the exterior are not high for me, as well. The front is too similar to a Sonata, and the headlights really stick out of the front end. The profile is not too bad, though I don't care for the rear too much. The interior, however, I find much nicer than the Camry, well, w/o getting a chance to sit in it anyway. I actually like a more complex interior. I'm not one of the blue collar simple masses Toyota must cater too in designing their interiors, so I've never cared for them. My thought is VW and Audi have about the best interiors in mass market cars out there. I sorely miss my Toureg interior. The new Accord interior actually remiinds me of what you might find in an Infiniti, instead of 20k family sedan, but I haven't had a chance to judge materials quality, though.
In essence, for interior, for exterior. I'm interested to see how it does in the long term.
