I regretably purchased the '07 Camry XLE V6 and got everything BUT the navigation. As expensive as it is to add the factory navigation, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck installing an aftermarket system that contains ALL the functionality (steering wheel buttons still enabled for bluetooth, radio, mode switching, etc...) as the factory unit currently allows. I ideally would like an in-dash navigation system that has bluetooth, navigation, and also plays DVD's. Sadly, I don't think such a thing exists, atleast one that will hook up to the steering wheel controls. I might have to just get the factory unit installed. I do have the JBL system so I hear it will hook up as-is. Any thoughts? I would love to hear some things people have done. Thanks all!
pac audio offers any 'retain steering wheel controls' adapter you could need. work great. i got one. and just go to the store at mp3car.com and see what kind of options you get on their head unit!
Thanks to all for the helpful info. Has anyone else had luck with an aftermarket nav system that has bluetooth, aux input, all steering wheel controls, and DVD player? I want to see pictures if possible! Thanks again!
see thread above about aftermarket dvd nav offered by Valor, decently priced against OEM nav unit however significantly higher then say a more reputable brand like Pioneer. Only good thing is it retains the factory look minus the OEM cost but could be a better buy if you go double din pioneer.
Does anyone have a picture of a double din unit installed on a Gen6? I want to see how much 'free space' is on the bezel when the button controls are removed.
Just so your clear bsilver... factory NAV will NOT play DVDs. It will do everything else but it wont play the DVDs. Just wanted to throw that out there since that was one of the things you wanted.
If I remember correctly... there is some kind of hack you can do to attach a DVD player to the NAV system. I just cant recall what it is.

Thanks again for the helpful info. Yes, I am aware the OEM nav system will not play DVD's. I am just looking for a unit that will do it all (steering wheel controls, bluetooth, dvd player, navigation, etc..). It seems the "OEM replica" units all have their downsides. I saw one that looked decent, but was not backlit and looked silly. I saw another that looked like a comic book, and another that looked like a guy made it in his garage. I like the pioneer units. I think I am gonna run my thoughts by Tweeter and let them install something that will do it all. I'll post pics once it's done!
crutchfield.com makes a dash kit for the camry's that is just that solid gray color to match the rest of the dash, it doesnt light up or anything, but it still looks pretty clean.
check out the peioneer avic d3- it amazing
i got it installed in mine and i love it
it has a nice factory look, can be hooked up to bluetooth, plays dvds and music videos, and even has adapters for steering wheel controls
the best of all is that i picked mine up off of ebay for only $680
