Front, Drivers Wheel making a ticking sound.

My front left wheel is making a ticking sound, that speeds up and slows down with vehicle speed. The closest thing I could equate it to is a rock in the tire. We all know what that sounds like.

The difference is that the sound is more mechanical, something is not right... does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking? The CV joint popped into my head, but I'm a little hesitant on that, it drives PERFECT, and the car only has 70k on it.

Any suggestions?

Possible causes of a ticking noise in the wheel:
-nail or screw stuck in tire - inspect tire for objects, remove and plug if needed
-CV joints worn or boot torn and grease is all gone (the noise as a rule, would be louder on turns)
-wheel bearing bad (not likely-the bearings dont usually tick they howl or squeal, or seize up)
-wheel cover noise (if equipped with same)
-tire is iregularly worn, or steel belts in the tire are damaged.

If you think it might be tire noise, swap the tires around to check for this - otherwise its in the hub or CV drive axle assembly
