Im looking into getting a new car and it would be a big help if i could get some opinions and testimonies about how good the gen6 camry's are, especially the 07 camry se. The other cars im looking into are the scion tc, acura rsx, subaru wrx

They are good cars but you need to drive both I4 and V6.

Scion tC
As sporty as you can get from a stock ToMoCo car, but you're still straggling on the 2.4L engine.

Acura RSX (where are you gonna buy one of these new?)
These drive pretty harsh and almost every RSX i see on the road make me think that the RSX are not durable cars.

Subaru WRX
I have a co-worker that loves his WRX, but i have never personally driven one.

The three previous are seriously different compared to the Camry, so what are you really looking for in a car? But to answer your questions about personal experiences about the Camry's:

I love my camrys. Just over 3 years with my 04 Camry LE V6 and everything is working great, no issues and all i've had to do were Oil Changes. Only thing i have to complain about are that my tires wore out pretty quickly. Just under a month with my 07 Camry SE V6 and things are just as rosy. The 2GR-FE engine on the 07 is a little noisier than the 1MZ-FE on my 04 but the extra power and the extra smoothness from the six speed tranny on the 07 offsets the extra engine noise. Then again, i'm not like most people. I like good power but as silent as can be.

+1

These aren't exactly 'similar' vehicles, really. The tC is a nice looking little car. Mildly sporty, still front drive, and oddly enough worse gas mileage than at V6 Camry. The RSX is a nice looking little car and ripe for the aftermarket. WRX... a whole 'nother ball game. None of these vehicles will provide you the room and practical use the Camry offers. But a stock Camry is a much less sporty vehicle in terms of a real driver's car... especially versus the WRX.

I haven't driven any of the other options (though I had been at least mildly interested in the tC for awhile), but I can say I enjoy my 07 SE. It has a hint of sporty intention and a good smooth delivery of horsepower. On the downside, the DBW throttle, slow responding tranny, and pseudo manumatic in the SE take some getting used to... you learn to put up with it, versus learning to love it. The engine cries for a stick shift to make better use of its power.

I'd still choose the SE over the others, though... better all-around vehicle in terms of performance and practicality, in my mind.

If you get the SE, get it with a V6. That way you won't be wishing you had got it with a V6, like me. Other than that, I really like the SE, inside and out. No complaints.

when i was looking to buy a new car i drove both the scion tc and the camry, and i also sat in the wrx. i am 6'4" and the wrx and the tc were a little small, but i still liked them. no complaints about my 2007 I4 manual camry so far (6 months owned).

Drive a fully (or almost fully) loaded XLE with a V6.

You just might be surprised at having some speed and comfort all rolled up in one car...

the WRX will blow the Camry, RSX, and tC right out of the water .... no competition whatsoever

its a turbocharged horizontally-opposed 4cyl .... you cant beat that with some N/A toyota engine, even a V6

also, the tC versus the Camry .... if you want a coupe, go with the tC .... if you want a sedan, go with the Camry V6 SE
