*EDIT*PICS //Lights in Footwell wired to domelight
Im thinking of puting some White LED's or Cathodes in my footwells . (which should i go LED or Cathodes?)
Im not a ricer and i want to hook them up to my Dome light... sorta like those puddle lights i want them to turn on/off when i open/close my door.
How easy is this ? Is there a fuse i can use or do i need to go to the dome light. If so how would i go about doing that and where is the best route to run the wires from the roof.
I did search and i found out that Netforcer has done this mod. Hopefully he can see this thread and help me out
Here is the feature on the new 08 accord as a option. http://automobiles.honda.com/accord-...ory=ACCOR08132
my buddy sent me this link and as he sent me the link i was lookign at hte Puddle light video phantomgrey had up. Then all of a sudden i thought of this idea

Reason: update
def cathodes.. i think u might need to wire it from the dome light down to the foot wells but im not totally sure.. if/when you do it, make a write up cuz i wanna do it too!
dont know how good u are with electrical.. but i would use a self power test light.. and all u have to do is hook up the LED wire too the brown wire
if this is for the 07 camry.. remove the lower dash panel ( the panel below the steering wheel) the brown wire is on the fuse bos. middle right side. 12 pin plug and its pin 5
if u close the door and hit it with the self power test light and it reads ground with the doors close .. than u would hook up the power wire ( or red wire) to the brown wire.. t tap it.. and the other wire on the led kit.. just ground it somewhere..
i did wat u wanna do to my s2000
install aftermarket alarms in just about every 2005 and up toyota.. some older ones.. so i know where and what wires are what
if im not correct about anything i said.. please let me know and ill change or delete my post as i have not installed any led kits in a camry before...
u might consider hooking them up to the switch inside the doors, thats what triggers the dome light .... when the door is closed, it presses the switch in, killing the system ... and vice versa
idk how it would work exactly since ive never opened up the wiring, but im sure theyre all 12V wires and cold cathode systems come with 12V wiring or inverters attached, so that might be closer than the dome light itself

If my cathodes come in before this weekend i will try to install if i get some good information from this thread. I will def try to make a write up just i need to find my self a camera

i have some electrical expeierience. Enough for this project.
hm im not too sure what you mean by the self power test light. But maybe i will find out soon? And on your s2k did your lights turn on/off only when the door is opened? or whenever the dome light was on (so eg. unlocking the car with the doors closed.)

I will look into this. I want to wait too see if netforcer comments before i decided which is the best way to do this
i did some researching a while ago on oznium.com and with our dimming dome lights, i believe u will need to install a relay. maybe go check out their forum, they have some DIY's
my leds have an on an off switch.. but the power source im using is only there when the key is on .. i have it on all the time since its LED.. everytime i start the car.. the lights will come on..
a self power test light.. i have two types.. one that plugs into the cig lighter plug and my other one hooks up to the battery
most test lights you know of. turn on because power runs thru the test light to ground.. this is bad since it can blow out a circuit ( fuse most the time) or set of air bags..
selfpower will tell u if there is a ground or power on that wire.. thats why i told u to test it.. too see what it does when the doors are closred and open.. but if i where too hook mine up like the way u want.. those steps in my 1st post is what i would do..
netforcer, did u have to install a relay between the dome light and the CCFL's? i read on oznium.com that because of the dimming effect, the low voltage will damage the transformers of the CCFL's
I've had CCFL's in my footwells wired directly from the dome light for 2+ years now, so it dims out with the dome lights too; no problems or damage to the transformers or lights. I think I'm running my led puddle lights off of the same power source also, but I'll have to double check; it's been a while.
