5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
The HomeLink in my car isn't working properly. It refuses both the signals from my home garage and cottage garage. I complained to the dealer and they refused to even try to program it.
Yes thank you for that useful link, however I know how to use that thing. The other car in the family (Benz ML500) also has the HomeLink garage door opener. I have been able to successfully configure it with both the home and cottage remotes.
The same thing in the Camry doesn't work.

Either it's bad programming or the unit doesn't work. The first is your problem and the 2nd is the dealers.
There are specific instructions for the dealer to test the module in the Camry Service Manual.
Does anyone know anyone in Southern California that can install an OEM Homelink in a 2008 Camry SE? I spoke with the parts department at Longo Toyota and they told me that if the car did not come from the factory with the Homelink, it is not possible to put one in. Is this true? I don't want the auto-dimming mirror, Homelink, compass.

Per Toyota, you would have to order the "Sports Convenience Package" which also includes the auto-dimming mirror.
You could also replace the upper console, after the fact, with a Homelink console for around $460 in parts. It just requires a 12v power supply and ground.

Where can I find the replacement Homelink upper console? Does the console replacement look just like the one I already have except with the Homelink?
