I'm another happy customer of Dave57. If you want a self dimming mirror Dave is the man. I paid Dave on Friday for a Homelink with a compass and I received it today Monday. Now that is service!
Horray Dave57. Make sure you give him some feedback to increase his trader rating!

I can only speak about a Gen 6, but if you have the sunroof it's about a twenty-minute job for the basic auto-dimming miror with compass. Otherwise you have to run some wire to get power for the mirror. If you want a mirror with the temperature display then you will also need to run the sensor lead to the outside of the car. I have the LE Camry and the mirror wire harness was taped to the roof panel.

07SE here with moonroof, I presume the harness is taped within the maplight console? Is it a simple pop out the maplight console, apply mirror to windshielf, run wire into headlining and connect to harness in ML console?
Nice ride! Yes, that's pretty much what I found. The harness has a plug already on it for the Toyota auto-dimming mirror, but of course you can just tap the two wires for a non-oem mirror. The mounting clips on the console are surprisingly stiff, by the way.
I've been looking into that ever since I got this car to begin with and have found no plug and play solution.
I can't even find blue-tinted mirrors, let alone electrochromic ones.
The closest "possible" solution is to install a driver's side mirror from the Toyota Avalon because that auto-dims.
Gotta check at the dealer if that will fit. I have a friend at a parts desk at another Toyota dealership in the west end. He would be up to looking into that kind of crazy idea. If I find out something I will post.
