Headlights non-HID

Hi everyone,

I'm transitioning to a new job which requires me to do a lot of night driving, which is about 50 minute commute. The stock headlight bulbs on my 05 Camry are ok, but was looking for something brighter without doing a conversion. Anyone know what the stocks are currently and what's the best on the market for bright light bulbs?

Thanks

In my opinion, HIDs are the ONLY way to go. You are not going to increase overall lumens by switching to a different bulb. HIDs are easy to install and somewhat inexpensive.

You can get the Sylvania Silverstars.

They're pretty expensive and the bulb life kind of sucks, but you might like those....

But he got the 05 Camry which does not have the projector like the 07 Camry. If you just stick the HID in there it would really blind others oncoming traffice which is very dangerous for everyone. In addition, cops will be after him every time they see him on the road.
I suggest stick with Silverstar or go for retrofit.

Do the 9005 >9006 conversion.

Edit: But do it with bulbs like Silverstars or something.

You can try finding some HIR bulbs on eBay, supposedly brighter than conventional halogen bulbs.

dont get bulbs that have a color coating on them. this only decreases light output.

Gen5

personally i have GE nighthawks in mine... if not brighter, definitely whiter and more attractive looking than those cheap halogens...

+1

Go for the HIR 9012's to replace your low-beams and 9011's to replace your highs. A co-worker of mine has those in his '06 Silverado and it makes a big difference at night. The HIR's don't look like HID blue wanna-be's either. I had the Silverstar 9005's for my high beams and did not like the output, the stock 9005's are better than silverstars. That's why I got the 9011's. Some say the bulb life is not great with the HIR's but they should last better than any blue coated bulb. Search this forum and you'll find more about them as well.

Read the specs here:http://hirheadlights.com/hir%20techsheet.htm

Buy them here:http://www.finemotoring.com/

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
