5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
There's a thread in the Gen3/4 section about Camrys in the next generation Gran Turismo. Yep, there's some Gen3's in there. And there happen to be some Gen5/6's in there too. The list is at the link below... included in the list:
Toyota Camry SE V6 Sedan '07
Toyota Camry Hybrid Sedan '07
Three Toyota Camry NASCAR editions, including concept and Car of Tomorrow
Toyota Camrod Concept '07
Toyota Camry Altise '04
Toyota Camry Sportivo '04
Toyota Aurion Supercharged '06 (07?)
As a Rod Millen Fan, I have to add that they are including both the Toyota Celica Pike's Peak vehicle, and the Toyota Tacoma Pike's Peak vehicle.
Also Rod's son Rhys is represented with '06 Formula D Pontiac GTO drift car, and the Solstice drift car.

THATS SWEET! That's one thing I didn't know. I remember the 2nd GT, had the Dodge Intrepid, I said why not a Camry. My wish came tru!

2004 Toyota Camry LE(SOLD)
1989 Ford Tempo AWD(SOLD)
As much as I want this to be true - this is probably just another wishlist.
There was part of me that wondered this as well, but more just thinking maybe it's a joke. Specifically because there are some... well... peculiar vehicle choices like mid-70's Buick's, a Cadillac Cimarron, a Chevy Citation (WOOOT!), a Chevy Lumina APV (!?!), etc. Who knows...

They should have them in the next NFS! Just kidding! Well, maybe, the new one sounds to be pretty good. Like we'll have body kits to choose from, like Naristo, RKSport, LOL, and then the intakes...Fujita, K&N...then like...some wheels of course. HAHA.
i have a camry, love the car, but would never have imagined it racing in a videogame, never.
Again, look at the entire list... the Olds Bravada is in there... a mid-priced Oldsmobile SUV, barely adept at the task it is marketed for, much less competitive driving. I think the fact that the game has the Camry says as much about the game developers' focus on providing a comprehensive list of vehicles and having bragging rights to a huge number of cars.
Think about it:
"In our game, you can race in your choice of a thousand vehicles!"
WOOT!
"...including the 1997 McLaren F1 GT!"
YEAAAH!
"...the 2007 Porsche GT3R!"
AIGHT!!!
"...the 2008 Chevy Corvette SS Blue Devil!"
AWWW HELL YEAH!
"...the 1979 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta!"
YEA- oh... um, what did you s-
"...the 1988 Chevy Beretta GTU!"
Uhhh... ummmm...
"...the 1976 Ford Mustang II Stallion!"
Okay now hold on, that's not r-
"...the 1983 Pontiac Phoenix SJ!"
-SIGH- Are... are you joking?
"...the 2005 Bugatti EB16.4 Veyron!"
Okay, see NOW, you're onto someth-
"...the 1992 Plymouth Relient!"
AAAGGHHH!!! My EYES!!!

Note that I am NOT comparing the Camry with the latter group of vehicles (e.g. the anemic Mustang II). I love my Camry, I just know that it isn't typically the subject of competition driving games.

Don't forget about this
And to the rest of the doubters, it doesn't matter whether the list is "official" or not, you'll know this next GT sequel will kick more ass. And I totally believe they'll have that many cars, since the game will start off with around 300 cars, and more will be downloadable as soon as manufacturers give access of their car data to the GT development team.
I can't wait to drive the shit outta a modified Gen3 in the Laguna Seca track. Lowered, black mica, gold BBS wheels --- that'd be how I roll in the game

I'd love to try this game out, and I'm sure from the screen caps that it's going to be a visual masterpiece. And the fact that it'll have Camry's certainly piques my curiosity. But... in all honesty... GT's lack of damage modeling has always struck me as weak. It's not necessarily that I want to go bash on cars (well, not all the time), but without any negative consquences for slamming into walls and cars, the game seems kinda silly. Forza definitely has this over GT.
