5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Am I not understanding this recall correctly? If all it takes is not putting on another floor mat on top of factory floor mat and securing the factory floor mat to the hooks on the floor board, why is this recall necessary? Does this mean all 07 Camry owners are entitle to a brand new set of floor mats?
I know, it's pretty silly. I imagine it is to satisfy a particular regulation since there was probably some idiot who wrecked because of this and they need to cover their arse.
Remember, many government regulations are to protect the general mouth breathing idiot, not the logical, intelligent thinking person we all think of as normal.

+1
Isn't this world getting to be wonderful! You can be a complete idiot and it will always be somebody else's fault. Luckily, Toyota is stepping up to the plate to help the morons of the world with their floormats.
I would assume they will just make sure that you don't have them both 'installed'.
Probably liability on Toy if they put them both down during the PDI.
For Toyota during the PDI we don't install the rubber mats or the carpet floor mats. The rubber mats are optional and the carpet ones are put in the trunk if the Camry has them. Only when the car is sold then the floor mats are put into the car and we turn them upside down with paper on over them so they don't get dirty. Its the slaes person who flips them over and locks them down once the customer tkes the car.

What you are supposed to day and what happens at some stealerships are two different things. Not every dealer/salesperson is conscientious, logical or even of relatively average intelligence

I was referring to the instance where I placed an order for all-weather mats for my Camry, but they said they couldnt sell them because they were on a stop sale.

i know, was just saying stop-sale or not, as per 'recall', the hooks are holding perfectly fine on my all weathers, so whether or not toyota has them on stop sale, you should pursue them regardless, just sounded like you are apprehensive about purchasing since the 'stop sale'. I bought mines from ebay for relatively cheap..
don't worry I know what you are saying though, perhaps giving reason to this retarded recall.
I had these weather mats with the Camry name on them the same day I bought the car.
I bet you some idiots will place these weather mats over the existing carpet mats and now blame it on Toyota.

You're right. These idiots will come up. Just like that stupid case a decade ago when a woman sued McDonalds because the coffee cup didn't warn her that the contents were hot.
