Down to two - low mpg?

I am in the market for a new car and have narrowed it down to the final two: a 2008 Camry LE V6 or a new 2007 Charger R/T ( I know, very different cars). I was set on the R/T until I saw a Camry road test. It was equal to or better than the R/T in nearly every category; 0-60, 1/4 mi, passing, slalom, etc. The final tie breaker is the gas mileage and reliability. However, I am finding that the mpg's may not be much better. Most R/T owners report ~19 mpg and two acquaintences who are 07 Camry V6 owners report about the same on average. Is 19 a realistic average for a V6 Camry in a 60hwy/40city split?

And off topic. Is 21840+tax a good price for an 08 LE V6?

i have an i4 but would think 19mpg is a realistic number for a v6.

WTFO. I get no less than 24 mpg in my SE V6 driving in DC rush hour traffic and a lead foot when the road opens up. I get 31 mpg on the highway.

22-25 in the city. 31-32 on the highway at 75-80.

Just so you know, I worked at a Dodge dealership, and most of the chargers that came in had some sort of electrical issue. Not to mention the fact that I think Dodge has suffered the most from the "plastic" interior. Its got a few rattles too many. Its a nice car, but its nothing like the original

95% highway, and I can let you know I got 28.3mpg this morning at the pump in my SE v6 07.

My milage seems to be improving with age, approx 12,000 miles now and thats my highest with no effort (ie: not changing my driving style).

I don't drive hard enough to be a fool, but I do drive fast enough to need a radar detector!

I do a lot of city driving and I havent had my mileage any lower then 21MPG, but it's usually around 23MPG in the city. And when I do about 50/50, I get anywhere from 25-28MPG.

ah, maybe their estimates are off. These numbers seem good.

I should be the owner of a silver 08 Camry LE V6, "the week of Oct. 8th," says the dealer. I have plans for immediate mods icluding 18" Kosei K1's, TRD springs, sways (when I can find some), and sound system. I currently also own an 03 Murano, and 06 92x Aero. The Camry will replace the Murano. Thanks for all the info so far. I'll post pics up as soon asap.

the quality you find in a camry is much better than any youd find in a charger...we had a charger srt-8 traded in on a camry Se V6 in the dealership i work at just last week...the reliabiility will also be much better with camry as well
and as far as milages goes, you cant go wrong with the camry....the V6 cranks out 268hp and still doesnt dip below 23mpg....hell the V6 averages better fuel economy than the 4cyl

and yes youre getting a very good price....most LEV6 ive seen go fro around 24-25k

If it was me...get a charger

Yes HEMI is very thirsty

Yes it is overpriced

BUT it is RWD , V8 and is sexy as hell

Hands down a charger

Test drive both and see which one you likes better on the road

I like them both for different reasons; obviously. It's not too much more than the Camry with all the Dodge rebates. But, once I found out the Camry V6 was just as fast, I couldn't justify a vehicle with the gas mileage of a truck; marginal utility not worth it to me. The Camry is not as nice looking to me, but is the better car.

You only say that because you have an I4. EPA figures are always a bit off.
I wouldn't say that the V6 gets better milage than the I4, but its almost the same.
