5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I know it's a best case scenario, but this and a couple other similar road tests is one major factor that made me look at, and eventually buy a Camry LE V6. I still can't believe a Camry can out pace a WRX and Charger R/T in many categories; what a great car it will be, I can't wait for mine to get here. If I can make my Camry handle like I want I will be very happy.
Still, anything doing 0-60 in near and/or under 6 seconds is damn fast.
The V6 Camry is a sleeper on the road. When my wife drives the Park Ave she thinks she is driving the damn Camry. I have to keep telling her to quit driving the Buick so damn hard...It is NOT the Camry.

You're my idol.

without traction control, and with a good launch and sticky tires I think sub 6 sec is easily doable. I also have a 92x Aero (WRX clone) and during my test drive I felt the Camry was much better at passing type acceleration; much smoother and as fast or faster.
If the 92x has the 2.0L turbo, there is probably some turbo lag if you are trying to accelerate to pass since you are cruising which means the turbo isn't providing much boost. The 3.5L naturally aspirated engine in the Camry however, does not have the turbo lag issue so you have more torque available from cruising speed.
