One thing that caught my attention is that when I put the phone in "discoverable" mode when I was pairing it, it displayed a message saying that it would remain in that state for exactly one minute. I wouldn't think that would affect anything after the devices had been successfully paired - but thought that was an interesting coincidence. Anybody got any ideas?

one thing is -- check the information on the R500 and see if you can expand the pairing. the bt dropping from the car shouldn't effect the call. the call should sit on the phone logically. Though depending on the phone, it might drop just because the BT drops.
I have a BT phone and my friends car I can pair and talk without any issues for 20-30 mins.
I would also check the BT information on the phone itself. The bt feature on my samsung phone is crippled and will not answer on some cars.
