5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was wondering if anyone has tinted taillights or covers and use a brighter bulb. If you do, could you please post the brand and a point of purchase? I would like to purchase something that's proven by others rather than falling for a sales pitch or hype.
the LEDs may be brighter, but only at certain angles... most LEDs have a narrow viewing angle. the tops of our tail light bulbs point outward instead of straight back, which means the top LEDs of the replacement bulb will also point outwards. drivers behind you won't be able to see the bulbs at their maximum brightness.
i would just stick with halogen/incandescent bulbs in my opinion.

Tinted/Smoked anything is dumb. I will never understand why people like to cut down on light output (like tinted headlights)...
Totally agree with you. I think it's cuz they're dumb poseurs and try to attract attention (bad, that is).
Now there's the trend of making the Gen6 tail-lamps all red through some stupid film. Did you see that stuff yet? Another dumb idea. Doesn't even look good.
Why decrease light emission from the headlights or tail-lights? Both are needed to be legal and safe. Oh well...I think it's the same people who tint their lights that also put on roof and trunk spoilers at the same time.

Thanks CorcamrySE It also looks really good on Netforcer's car eventhough he has a different style.
But that just my opinion.

Obviously, trying to find brighter lights means that I'm not trying to dim the lights at all. So griping about it not making sense...doesn't make any sense either.
Thanks w203 and CorCamrySE for contributing to the thread and trying to help. I appreciate it.
In case someone else may have something to offer, here's what I asked:
