ok so i've been searching around looking for an answer and i think somebody here said something about how there's a factory dvd navigation for people who don't have the jbl system and one for people who do have a jbl system. can anybody confirm? i'm really eager to find out since this is on top of my to do list. thanks!

i believe it will only work with the jbl system because its amplified. the OEM navi does not have a built in amplifier to it will not produce any sound.

It will only work with the JBL amp since it is an 8-channel amp. The navigation has to send signals to all the different speakers especially for those times when you are recieving direction. The navigation actually redirects the sound you the driver can hear the directions being iterated.

Just to add to the accurate information already provided....the non-JBL set up that you probably read about is actually an OEM-like solution but far from OEM. It doesn't, apparently, work without the JBL but it is most definitely not OEM. It just has a similar appearance aesthetically.

2007 Camry Aftermarket Headunit...With PICS!!!

The thread above is for Valor TCR-07, which is an aftermarket Camry replacement. It looks like the OEM nav minus the backlit panel display. The buttons are backlit for night time, just not the text labels.

I believe for any GPS/Navigation system, plug n play in reference to wire harness should be relatively straight forward. However, for most GPS/Navigations, there is a GPS antenna that needs to be ran somewhere on the car or on the dash to help with positioning. So yes, you'll need to mount/run/apply an extra antenna for navigation units. I believe for the Valor TCR-07, the bluetooth module is contained within the device.

I'm looking at the Valor model, however the non-backlit text labels is a huge turn off for me. I was considering going aftermarket double din touchscreen unit, but I don't want to lose the bezel real estate. All of that blank space on the bezel might make it look rather ricey imho.

I've tossed around a few ideas regarding the bezel to help 'enhance' if I did decide to go with a double din unit. I was thinking of tossing in the V1 directional arrows although this may take some customizing with dremeling the aftermarket bezel for fitment, I still think it leaves a lot of blank space which is a look I don't want to go with.

Another option is to just go OEM nav unit from Toyota, granted not the best selection for the price, just at this point there isn't many options left.

Does anyone have a pic of a double din aftermarket nav unit with bezel replacement so I can gauge exactly how much blank space is located on it?
