5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I've Seafoamed my 1994 V6 Camry without any problems, and since I have almost 11K miles I was thinking about seafoaming it and cleaning the TB. Has anyone seafoamed their Gen 6 yet? I'm wondering if since it's such a new engine, if it could damage some of the more advanced electronics?
I know a few people who have seafoamed a 2AZ, but i'm mainly looking for someone who has done so on the 2GR.
LOL do a search for Seafoam here on the board. It's a chemical that you can add to the fuel system or into the intake to clean out the inside of the engine.

Totally cleans out your system....doesn't depend on your car to get rid of the filth either. This system VACS it out. Every little bit of grit and grime is gone. It is good for your fuel pump as well. I have increased my mileage afterward and it runs smoother.

Does it clean the combustion chambers? It appears to be a fuel system cleaner.

Yes I believe it does. There are pics I think that show you how clean the valves are afterward.
There is also a movie (Tech-Wise for mechanics) on how to hook up the system.
EDIT: Here is a cut-out from their spec sheet...
How MotorVac CarbonClean Works
MotorVac’s two-line cleaning system connects to the engine
using vehicle specific adapters, temporarily replacing the
vehicles fuel system. During the first cleaning phase (with the
engine off) the system circulates MotorVac’s powerful yet safe
proprietary cleaning MV3 detergent mixed with gasoline through
the components of the engines fuel system. This phase safely
dissolves contaminants, gum and varnish deposits, capturing
them in the unit’s ten micron filter. The air intake plenum,
throttle body and intake runners are cleaned utilizing the ICS
kit in conjunction with the foaming MV4 detergent. During the
second cleaning phase (engine running), the injector screens,
intake & exhaust valves, top of pistons, combustion chamber,
oxygen sensor, and catalytic converter are cleaned. This safely
dissolves and removes most of the soft carbon deposits,
passing them harmlessly out with the exhaust.

LOL that device costs THOUSANDS. Hardly worth the investment unless you do it to another 100 cars at least. I would not spend thousands on a machine so that I could use it ONCE and hope for a 5% increase in fuel economy.

DUH! You take your car into a SHOP and have it done....
What do the shops charge for it? I have never used Sea foam but I have used GM's product fed through the brake vacuum line on my Denali. It is the same procedure their tech's use. However the motor vac system might be worth a trip to a shop.
Personally I don't trust anyone with my car for anything unless I absoloutly have to. And Seafoam always works great. So honestly the whole machine thing is pretty pointless to me.
