Squirrel spotters are a small opening in the cut-off shield of a projector that allows light to shine up at a 45 degree angle to illuminate road signs.

Purchase a kit with a Kelvin rating of NO HIGHER than 5K. The higher the Kelvin, the less light output.

You can find cheap kits everywhere, But just remember, You get what you pay for.

Proper HID's would be to do a Retro-Fit. That will cost alot more than $200-300.

Clark: There is no way you searched and didn't find that information. I can't even count on my West Virginia calculator how many threads there are with that information.

Thread titled "Squirrel Spotter"

HID Retro thread:
Just got my set of TSX projectors for retro!

These are low hanging fruit finds using the search function. There are plenty more.

There are two approches to HIDs, one is purchasing an HID kit from a reputable manufactor, the second is is a retrofit. A retrofit requires you to take projectors from another car, ie Acura TSX or Honda S2000, and custom fitting it into your headlamp.

The first approach is cheaper, ranging around $175-$300. It'll definitely make your headlamps look brighter then stock, but nowhere near the quality of an Acura or BMW's headlamps.

The second approach is much harder to do, it'll require dremeling and custom work. It'll require you to purchase those projectors, an high quality OEM ballast and bulbs. This can run you $400-$600.

A few members, myself included, have done a retrofit, definitely a huge improvement, but it'll take quite a bit of time and money to do.

That's the type of work required. It's definitely a good payoff, a nice learning project to use with a dremel. Find a friend and spend a weekend or two on it.

To put it simply, if you want to have HID on your Gen6 Camry you have two options:
1.) HID kit (and don't forget to cover up the squirrel spotters)
2.) Retrofit with real HID projectors.

I've done both, and in the order above. I wasn't satisfied with the HID kit so I retrofitted with Lexus RX330 projectors.

If you do the kit, expect brighter light but in the same light pattern on the ground as your halogens.

If you do a retrofit, expect brighter light in a wider, longer, crisper light pattern on the ground.

The OP has a Gen 5 if I remember correctly.

I don't think that they're worth the hassle.

I agree.

Note that I provided some information for the post, then simply stated my opinion.

Maybe you should have put in your own response to the thread, instead of entering the thread just respond to me. That's ghey.
