Gen6 Camry Mod????

Did a quick search and didn't find anything.

I'm not into modding daily drivers much, but there are some mods that make sense and add that little touch, mostly nobody notices. I found one such mod for my TL and wonder if it has an application on the Camry?

I referenced the Camry SM and it looks as if the parts are similar, someone who likes this idea can maybe take it further by actually looking up part #'s or cross referencing Smart Key vs. Keyed vehicle parts.

It's called the "Shaved Door Lock" and cost me $8... The part was pre-painted I would imagine Toyota to be similar. It took all of 2.5 minutes to complete this mod... There isn't a keyhole visible on my car anymore, unfortunately the Camry has a keyed trunk and probably not as easily "shavable." But then again, Smart Key vs. Keyed parts, who knows????

Here's some pics of the install, it should be pretty self explainatory.

Subtle mod but it leaves a clean look. Nice! One question though what happens when your keyless battery dies/ doesn not work?

Sorry forgot to mention just ordering the part for the "rear door" instead of the "Smart Key" handle cover, whatever one works?

As for getting locked out?

The lock cylinder is still behind the cover.

I think the Camry may be similar to my TL, but the cover comes off from the outside by simply releasing the tab seen inside when the handle is pulled, check the first pic... If the fob key dies, pop the cover and use the key, I personally never had a fob "fully" die, the range got worse and I replaced the battery before it died.

I used chrome covers to accomplish the same thing with my Camry.

That is one nice Camry TRD VVTi. I like the TRD badge on the back instead of the Toyota emblem.
