Its interesting to see how many owners are not aware of the need to properly torque their wheels. It is criminal that many shops still use the impact wrench without the torque sticks. Make sure you demand they use the correct one. One shop I used , mentioned that they used the 80 lbs stick. Since there was only a 3 lbs difference from what is recommended I gave the go ahead. The sticks come in different colors and go up in 5 lb increments. Just make sure you verify everything. When they realize you up on all this torque stuff they will not pull any easy, fast ones. All this is so educational and serves to keep us save!! Happy motoring you all!
76 ft.lbs (1,050 kg.cm) is the recommended torque no matter what your engine size.
me bad, thats cool that you caught my spelling error Njerald, I knew you would. After posting two web sites of reference you still think ibs is not lbs ? wow, you're very picky. As for "some Canadian thing" I'm not sure where thats going, but I'll leave that one alone.

Several hundred for a good brand like Snap-on or Mac Tools, less than $100 for a Craftsman. Don't get the $20 cheap ones from Harbor Freight.
I got a cheap one from Harbor Freight....works fine so far.

Always got something else in mind...
i usually dont bother, i have an electric impact wrench and it seems to torque the aluminum wheels about right - no wobbles or cracks in the wheels - its a lot of trouble cause i take the wheels off and on alot to check brakes etc.
If you torque the wheels you are torquing 20 times and if the wheels are about as tight as they are supposed to be its enough - not too tight or too loose.
I change wheels at work every day and imagine if i had to torque every single lug nut? We have the torque sticks but i usually dont bother using them. Even if you have an impact wrench many of them have adjustable settings so you set it one or two clicks down from tightest and just blip it on. No wheels fell off yet and ive done a thousand or two.
