Oil change, rotate tires, inspect tire pressure, and brakes

Air filter if not previously changed
Flush brake fluid if not previously completed
Inside air filter if not previously changed

Not really, just follow what you find here: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/index.php

You can replace the serpentine belt if you want as preventive maintenance, but I think it's premature. Inspect the belt for damage and replace as needed.

The 40,000 mile service is just an oil & filter change, tire rotation, and inspection.

Check the cv joint boots for tears. Eyeball the shocks for any leaks. Check vacuum hoses for any cracks. Clean bugs out of a/c///radiator. Eyeball the tires for wear and need for alignment. Clean beer cans out from under front seats.

Actually, what I stated is all that it needs.

All of the other things should have been taken care of previously at the 30,000 mile maintenance interval. There isn't anything wrong with doing preventative maintenance early or even more than is needed/required though.

The OP didn't state that he wasn't smart enough to service the vehicle on time so a 40,000 service is the minimal 5,000 mile service interval.

You've been a bad boy!

Here is what I would do at the minimum(I'm presuming that you've only done 5,000 mile services):

Lube, oil, and filter change
Tire rotation and adjust tire pressures
Inspect tires for any unusual wear - If uneven, have a 4 wheel alignment performed
Throttle body service/cleaning (I don't care what anybody else says)
Check/clean/replace air filter
Check/clean/replace cabin filter
Inspect brake system
Clean and adjust the rear brakes (only needed if drum brakes)
Complete vehicle inspection

I've seen plenty of Camrys with Type T-IV fluid that needed to be serviced because the fluid is brown/burned/discolored. Make sure you check it. The majority don't need service but some people must drive the hell out of their cars, because I've seen it MANY times.

I've done all of this to my car with the exception of cleaning the throttle body. But I have a can of Gumout throttle body cleaner sitting on the bench calling for me as we speak. I've just been a little bit lazy.

Of course, if something else is seen while checking the vehicle over it should be addressed as well.

Make sure you apologize to the Toyota Gods before you go to bed tonight.
