Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm looking for a replacement for the Bridgstone RE92 V rated tires that came OEM on my wifes (very moderate driver) 04 Camry XLE.
Tirerack surveys rate these tires poorly but I didn't hink they were THAT bad. They wore out at 38k miles...eeehhh...were fairly quiet at highway speed. Didn't skid or hydroplane the the rain (never really tested the limits though)
I'm lookong for a tire that is better than the RE92 in the following areas.
1) wet traction
2) dry traction
3) ride - equal to or a little softer than the RE92
3) road noise (quieter)
4) gas mileage
5) wear
I'm considering the following tires.
1) Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
2) Bridgstion Potenza G 009
3) Kumho Solus KH16
These will be used inteh roads of Houston where ther is almost never snow (every 5 - 10 years or so for a day).
Anyone have experience with the tires above. Any other suggestons?
I installed the Bridgestone Potenza G 009s about 2 months ago.
I have no complaints, they are a heck of a lot better than the tires that came on my 2006 LE, Goodyear Integrity I believe.
Hello, I've been using KUMHO SOLUS KH16 for last 2 1/2 years, I am pretty sure that these tires are the best quality for your car.
I live in socal which weather is hot most of time, These are the best for their low price. The michilon tires are only for brand names.
You could buy all 4 kumhos tires for 2 of michlon tires, Its like you only pay helf of the price...

Have you considered the Nitto NT555? It very good with those 5 criterias you have listed. However, from the 3 on your list I would choose Kumho for the overall value of the tire.

Have you considered Comfortreads or Tripletreads from Goodyear? I had a set of Comfortreds on my 98 Camry and I was very happy with them. Very quiet, outstanding grip in all weather, and they still had plenty of life left when I sold the car. (I think the tires had 50K miles on them when I sold the car, and they still looked like they could get another 20-30K.) They are one of the highest rated tires around. (Check Tirerack.com)
They are a bit pricey (around $100 per tire), but I think they are definitely worth it, and plan on putting them on my hybrid when the original tires need replacing.
Hadn't considered goodyear after the RS-As I had on my 97 Eclipse and my wifes 97 Grand Am. Noisy, and slipped BAD in wet. Kind of gave up on goodyears.
Went with the Yokahoma AVID H4s. Great traction and much reduced road noise from the Bridgstones RE92s. I went with the H4 instead of the V4 for a softer and more comfortable ride. Works out great. If they were a smige quieter they would be perfect but as they are I would rate them very good.
Tirerack had them for 90 each after shipping. NTB installed for 12.99 each.
