5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm looking to replace my 4runner which was totalled two weeks ago. This will be an everyday driver and needs to be safe and get good gas mileage. The '07 Sequioa I bought last week is a gas guzler and I'm trying to keep the miles down on my Vette.
Any recommendations regarding the must have options and features would be appreciated. I will get this car at invoice and will want to keep it under 21K.
Thanks in advance. Oh ya did I mention I love our Toyota's
Theres no cosmetic differences, some say that the transmission was fixed in '08, but no one is absolutely sure yet.
However at this point, I wouldn't get an '07, mainly because the resale value wouldn't be nearly as good as an '08.
the resale value of any car won't be as good as the next year's model...
right? i mean, i am not trying to be an ass or anything, but what you said made no sense to me. and 07 will resale for less than an 08 because obviously the 08 is newer.

unless there is something here that i am missing.
I 'Think' it is because of the transmission problems of the 07's to the 08's is the difference in resale value.
Personally for me it is no big deal. My 6 speed has been changed out and then tweaked so it is running just fine. I don't care about resale value at this point since I pretty much drive my cars until they are near death...

If the transmission problems do indeed cause lower resale value of 2007 Camry's then it's my opinion it will follow all Gen6 Camry's. The resale on my was 2006 V8 Touareg was horribly diminished by problems isolated to 1st half 2004 model year vehicles. I think in these cases private party sales are the best bet, but with that comes all the risk after the sale. 2007 MY or 2008 MY I think will be little distinguished from each other a number of years down the road, given identical mileage. I would think you'll save more money by buying a 2007 MY now, than you will lose by selling or trading in a 2007 MY later. That's just my opinion, though.

Obviously. However many dealers are still selling '07 models for nearly the same price as the '08's, so going with an '07 because it's the color you want or something, wouldnt be a smart move if you plan on selling it later on.
I order a LE V6 2008 White about one and an half month ago..... Yesterday i went to the dealer because they receive it....
I saw a White Camry parked in the back of the dealer (the only one!)..... I go check it....They order not the good one (it's a white one but no sunroof and some other accessories....)...
they try to sell me the one they receive or a 2007.... but both have no sunroof...
They are now trying to find one in an other dealer in Canada.... if they didn't find one... they will have to order a new one
The only good news that i have, it seem that maybee they found one.... on a boat that come from japan... they have to ask the other canadian dealer if it already sold :S
I'm waiting news today.... hope that they will be good
It's the first time that i order a car.... next time i think i will take the one that they have in stock.....

07 models has rebate of $750, 08 are no rebate.
I checked over 8 dealers for 07 m/ gray color, they had only red and burgundy.
If you like gray, blk or silver get o8 model and make sure you buy the car at least $1000 under invoice and you'll be happy.
The 2007 Camry had a popular color called Titanium silver (code:ID4). Its a light metallic silver color. Unfortunately its not available in 2008 lineup...

Did you mean to say if you by an '07 make sure you get it $1,000 under invoice? I have a hard time finding someone to do that for a new model car anywhere.
I can't find any local deals with 750 cash back for the 2007's. I would prefer cash back incentives since I'm paying cash for this one. If I can get 0% financing I'll take that deal and just pay off my Vette which has a 4.9% loan.
