Dented Rear Bumper Cover

Oops, I backed-up my 2006 Camry LE into my wife's car and my rear bumper cover is mashed in pretty good on the corner. I got two estimates so far from reputable body shops:

1. Repair the bumper and paint it - $450.
2. Install a new bumper and paint it - $660

Since the car is only 2 years old, should I get the new bumper? I am a bit skeptical as to how well you can repair plastic. Damn, these things are expensive (in Atlanta). Any advise?

Thanks,
Ted

ouch! I would personally just get a brand new bumper. I recently backed my 07 camry into someone but luckily it was their fault so everything was covered!

get the new bumper. if you use body filler on the bumper, it might look good at first, but if you take a light bump that wouldnt normally damage the bumper, the filler will easily crack.

I'm A Service Advisor At A Toyota Dealership Here In California And To Repair/repaint A Bumper I Charge $250 And It Comes Out Perfect...so If It's Going To A Body Shop That Sounds About Right To Get It Repaired At That Rate

We used 3M Automix Flexible parts repair at the bodyshop I used to work for. Its basically like a Bondo that doesn't dry hard and brittle. But dries soft and bendable. Is is designed to be used on Bumpers, etc.

Before you pay big bucks, this worked fairly well for me ... a very carefully used hot air gun from the outside, and a soft stick of some sort from the inside. It'll sorta pop out at the right temperature. Cant hurt to try.
