ok guys, i'm a member of tn through the taco forum since thats what i drive, so i have been here for quite some time, however my mom has an 07 camry v6 xle and i must say its a hell of a car to drive, i never would have known these cars were so fast had i not driven it..
ok now to get to my question, a couple of days ago, i noticed a spot in the drive way where she normally parks. Its really dark and does not come up very easily... any idea what it could be? its dripping from the engine area, i'm no mechanic, so any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated, thanks

but spray a little water on it, try using a grease cutting dish soap to scrub it off. if it comes off easily, it is probably oil...if it is still slick, it is tranny fluid.
and if you step in it, slip and bust your ass...then it is definitely tranny fluid.
I'm no mechanic neither but I'd definitely take it to the dealer. A leak in any fasset of life is never good news. Better to have it diagnosed and possibly fixed than to lose a major component (engine or tranny) because it ran out of fluid.
The only liquid that should drip from your car is water when the AC is on.

Is it from under the front or rear????
What type of driving, long or short.
If from the rear, could be from the muffler drip hole. Results of many short trips, and not expelling all of the moisture out of the muffler.
Good Idea, any question at all about the stain / drip, check with the dealer!!!!

Engine area, scratch the muffler idea. A/C condensate, power steering or anti-freeze?

Just take it to the dealer. There's a lot of different possibilities. They are better at diagnosing the problem and I doubt you would get cheated in a situation like this. It's a leak so if the actual leak isn't identified and fixed you should know pretty quickly and you have a case with the dealership.

wow, my mom brought it to the dealership, comes back with nothing, they said they "checked" all the fluids and nothing was leaking and nothing was low level of liquid... umm ok so then how did this big ass spot get in my driveway?.. they def cheated my mom out of it cause they were too lazy, so now we have it over a tarp so if it drips again we can take it to them and prove it..

Today while driving down the freeway, i noticed that white smoke was pouring out of the back of the car, i imidiately pull off at the exit and check it out.. transmission fluid was steadily streaming out of the car... call my mom and AAA.. car gets towed to toyota... transmission is a total loss, and we have to get a whole new one.. this is the worst thing i can imagine happening to an 07 car with less than 15k miles on it, with out it being totaled...
your thoughts?
.. yes it is still covered under warrenty, but seriously i doubt this is a normal occurance.. flawed gears maybe?.. its a xle, v6 with the auto..

Sorry that happened to you. You did the right thing by taking it to the dealership. Too bad, they couldn't find the problem before it got to this point. But it is great that they are replacing it for you under warranty. I don't know what to say about these Gen 6's. I'm sure some people are going to come along and defend these cars as usual but I don't really care. Some of these problems just shouldn't be happening.

, Where was it leaking from? Was it coming from where the bell housing meets the engine? I never had anything "bad" happen in my Gen 6, Except for an occasional occurrance where the trans would rev extremely high while merging into traffic then slamming into gear and squeeking the tires, but of course the dealer could not duplicate. I'm just glad that my ES has over 100k and has NEVER had any mechanical part replaced/repaired due to failure, only Preventative maintenance fluid changes and service, she still purrs like a brand new one off the lot.
