Mudflaps - to paint or not to paint?

Just bidded on my mudflaps for my 05 I4 LE. Just a couple questions regarding the painting them. Does it look better when painted to match the car or should I go with the regular black?

Also how many holes do I have to drill?

Thanks

Edit: Do you know where I can get color match paint?

I think mudflaps look a lot better painted to match the car. However I would rather have them black then have the color be off from paint that didnt match exactly.

I painted mine with duplicolor (factory matched to 1e3) + clearcoat.

(Pepboys had the paint) (about $15.00 for both)

They look good.

There is only one hole to drill in the back bumper. all other holes are already there. Only need to remove the back wheels to drill tha hole.

Hope it helps

I called toyota and they said they're $73 not painted.

Yes I'm getting mud guards and bulky ones, right? not the ones that just flap around.

Definitely go with the painted mudguards from trdparts4u and they also have the clearcoat. The $80.00 was worth it. I put them on my 05 mineral green (which never looks green except at dusk)

you can get the oem paint code at pepboys or some auto stores for common colors, and www.paintscratch.com for others
clear coat is avalable at auto stores as well.....make sure to sand with coarse sandpaper, prime, paint, wetsand with fine sand paper, paint and clearcoat for best finish

So, which dealer did you get them from? I'll see what they want for shipping. The 2 I called 'round here want $70 for black and they wont paint 'em.

Is it safe to assume the color match was a good one?

Thanks,
b

Hi everyone,

I just got my mudguards in the mail, but just have one more question before I install them. The mudguards look kinda funny because there is a large empty area down the bottom on the side facing the wheels. Is it supposed to be like that? I got these off ebay, but from a Toyota dealer. Or does anyone have pictures of their mudguards?
