5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I wouldnt trust the stuff at walmart. I use Mobil 1 and i do my oil changes every 3k, you can put in regular oil because toyota engines do not require synethic oil, unlike BMW and MBenz.
you can get mobil 1 at walmart. so is mobil 1 crap? its what i use, but not on the camry. the i4 camry requires a specific engine oil. no idea where rush is getting his info from
If the Super Tech synthetic oil meets GF-4 requirements, it will be fine but I wouldn't run it past 5000 miles because the additive package isn't that good. Given the price, you should not expect it to be the best, but it is good considering the price.

Changing Mobil 1 at 5000 miles is just wasteful.
I agree with the first part completely.
I don't agree with the second. I change the oil every 3,000 miles on my Formula and 5,000 miles on my Camry using Mobil 1. Nothing was wasted. The engines look and perform as new, the exact reason that I am using the oil.
I work at a Garage so i know what im talking about, i was saying if that super synethic oil that you were talking about was a no name brand then you shouldnt put it in your car. I only use mobil one because most of my driving is high way to school. I still change it every 3 because its not worth driving a brand new engine 5k trust me.
what i meant to say was if it met the gf-4 as mentioned.

i own a garage wOOt
its not a no name brand its called supertech and i've heard of it just being a wiseass but seriously i have heard of it, if it passes the gf-4 testing then you know its good enough for the i4 engine.
It should be better than conventional oil. It is probably a group Three synthetic. Run it for 5000 miles with a good filter and send a sample to a laboratory for an oil analysis ($15-$20) to see how the oil is holding up. It is safe to run it for 5000 miles, Supertech synthetic 5W30 meets GF-4 requirements. If money is not an issue go with Mobil 1 or Amsoil signature series 0W30 ($9.95/Qt).
Of course you do. Working at a garage means everything...
I never heard of supertech, so i dont know its reputation, took a wild shot in the dark and guessed it was a walmart brand, knowing walmart i wouldnt trust their quality jackass. w203 im happy for you.
