Gen6 HID kits in stock halogen projectors

I was looking at my stock halogen projectors and I noticed that the reflector bowls were not in good shape. The reflectors are not mirror-like as they should be as my Lexus RX projectors are. The damage looks similar to what I would expect from high wattage bulbs or excessive heat. I only operated my HID kit in the stock projectors for only a few months and never used high wattage halogen bulbs, could this be what was degrading the output of the HID kit? I don't think this would pass Toyota's QC if this is from the factory?

Does anyone else who has completed a retrofit have their old halogen projectors laying around to take a look at? Has anyone else seen this on their projectors that had a HID kit? I just saw this and thought, 'damn, did I do that?' and thought I'd share the pictures.

I have.

One of my stock halogen projectors were like that, but not as beat up though, maybe half as much. It was weird, I almost thought I dropped a screw or did something to scratch it up. Maybe it was the oven that melted something when I was baking the headlamp.

But yeah, it is really weird.

I don't think it was the oven since they say the HID bulb heats up to 400 degrees. I only heated mine up to 300 in the oven to get them apart. Strange only one of yours is like that, both of mine are pretty bad. Must be from the factory then? I would think those non-reflective spots would lessen the light output from the halogen projectors.

I just keep finding reasons to be glad I did a HID retrofit.
