Gen6 Best Tire PSI for Best MPG?

What is the best PSI to have in the tire to give it the most miles per gallon?

I read somewhere and it said to use the Max PSI listed on the tire, and I heard someone else say to keep it at 30-35PSI. My stock Michelin tires say max is 44psi. Im just not sure what to have it at. Thanks to anyone that can help.

I've always heard that slightly over the max pressure listed on the tire will get you better MPG. But the higher pressure gives you a harder ride where you feel every crack in the road and may wear the center of your tires quicker. I run mine at 30 psi and I've been getting around 26-28 mpg in a hilly area. I'd rather have a softer ride than better mileage, but that's me.

I think max pressure is right because the idea is that you'd be minimizing the contact area (and therefore friction).

i run my tires 10 PSI more than they should be. i get great mpg, but do feel more bumps and there is the higher risk of a blow-out but havent had a problem yet (*knocks on wood*). iven been doing this for about 10 years now.
