Wow, this really brings back the memories of 'ye olde' swap meet days. Remember the $10 200W 6x9's and $15 400W amp/eq's? Let him learn, these are the experiences we remember for a lifetime.....whether we like to or not!
....or you could look for something that will actually emit sound remotely resembling music.
Tweeters draw such a little amount of current, I wouldn't worry about the load on the receiver. Now if you were adding to subs in parallel, now you're talking improvement.

Thats not exactly how it works. When they have the same impedance as the drivers you wiring them in parallel to, they will draw as much power as the other drivers. To decrease the the power consumed by the tweeters you'd want to increase the impedance. Look up Ohm's Law, and you'll get a better explaination. In this case, the OP should be fine. I don't know off hand how low the stock amp can go before overheating, but since it puts out such little power anyway, I wouldn't be concerned going from 2 ohms to 1.33 ohms on one channel. Unless it;s already being pushed to it's limits, but I doubt it. Good luck to the OP, but really, do look for some decent tweeters.
