5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was just wondering why TRD are making bunch of parts for the Corolla, Scions, and Yaris? But nothing for the Camry V6 SE. I thought SE stands for Sports or performance. What gives? My SE will smoke those cars any day even with all their TRD parts and all i have is a TRD badge(hehehe). Sorry, just venting my frustration on the lack of parts available.
I am waiting for TRD to come out with the strut tower brace for the 2007. I know there is a bar on ebay but it is not TRD. Anyone that finds one, if they do make one, please let us know.
I'm always checking their website and so far all they have is the rims and springs. The ones you see in ebay are not TRD. They are the cheap ones from Hong Kong. Hey maybe they are HKS (Hong Kong Special...hehehe). I'm still debating about the TRD springs since it doesn't lower the car that much. I'm waiting for TIEN to come out with their springs.
considering the vast majority of Camry owners tend to probably be married couples, or those with kids (in comparison to the Corolla, Yaris and Scions)... its not hard to see why TRD is concentrating on the others.

If your car is already better than the others that do have parts available, Then why do you need the TRD stuff?

I really don't think that there was ever really a market for TRD stuff for the Camry until the Gen 5's. I doubt that Toyota and TRD ever thought that the Camry would be as popular as it has become with the younger crowd.
Hopefully they will realize that soon, but it still won't help the rest of use with Gen 5.5 or older vehicles.

Yeah the TRD parts barely exist for the Gen 4's and there are more parts for the Gen 5 but not alot. I have been looking for the Gen 4 TRD Bodykit for months now and they are few and far between. I did find a TRD sway bar but i want more than that. I'm probably going to end up with a Gen 5.5 LE eventually (found quite a few that I like) so I guess I can start modding that instead of mine.

I would say it was when the Gen 4 was released.
You remember the Gen 4 1MZ TRD supercharger right?
i thought toyotas whole point about coming out with a more aggressive and sporty looking camry is to get out of the mom and dads car image. isn't that the main reason they went nascar racing too. they could've easily thrown in an lexus in nascar but they chose the camry instead. for them to race camrys and not provide the enthusiast parts to work with is just wrong. whatever happened to "RACE ON SUNDAY AND SELL ON MONDAY".
i'm still waiting for trd to make a twin turbo'ed nos setup for my camry. cuz we all know that trd is the best part you can get and that those parts are so much better than others that may cost less and even perform the same if not better than them
