Gen6 225/45/R17 fit nicely on OEM SE rims?

As much as I would like to replace my OEM 17" chromes with a new set of 18", I just can't afford it. So, with that said, I was wondering what would be a good set/size of tires that would give my SE a sporty look (low-profile) and still provide little road noise and lots of comfort. I've been looking at 225/45/R17s but not sure what brand to get. BTW, the tires that came with my car are the Toyo J33, 215/55/R17.

Um, I sold my 16" SE rims for $350 and got 18" IS350 rims for $380 SHIPPED.

Net: $30 to roll on 18s

Mama didn't raise no fool

Don't do it thats more a 5% diameter change. Now if that was a 225/45/18 it would be great.
Get the 18s or bigger.

What's the negative of a large diameter change? Besides speedo inaccuracy?

Over time you run risk of brake failure.

Did U check out Discount tire? http://www.discounttiredirect.com They have some good price and recently they also have the rebate/instant rebate.

I'm thinking of replacing my OEM tires too since their price is pretty good. My OEM feels slippery. Not sure I like to drive it in the snow. But they don't have the wheel with Yokohama that I want.

If you want the low profile look, you really should go up in rim size, with what you suggest, you have speedo inaccuracy and may lose significant fuel efficiency as well on the highway, hit me up for some 18s ( i have chrome sets only though)

Damn! 18" IS rims for $350! Great deal! Someone on CL is selling a used set of TSW Mondello 18" for $350. I might just go pick those up and sell mine. What do you guys think of 205/40/R17 to go with the OEM SE wheels?

205/40/17 is no good again. Jump on those IS rims.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll go ahead and get the Konig Theory 18". Someone on CL is selling it to me with Kumho Ecsta tires (225/45/18), all brand new for $800 with lug nuts and all. Good deal?

Someone else wants to buy my OEM chromes with tires for $600, so I figured, a $200 investment on new tires and rims is probably worth it.

So I went with 19" instead. I got the TSW Thruxton with a set of Toyo Proxes 4 235/35/19 set, exactly like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-TS...spagenameZWDVW

I just want to know what your input is on the 19" instead of the 18". Will I encounter any problems using this set up? I will also have to relocated the TPMs into this set. anyone have any idea how much it'll cost me to do this?

BTW, I got this set used on CL. Great bargain, I'd say!
