Gen5 Removing the gen 5.5 sunglass holder and map light assembly

Has anyone accessed the sunglass holder/map light assembly for a gen 5.5 Camry? I have searched the forum and came upon camrymanuals.com, and I found the part where it talks about the assembly. It says you can remove it using a taped screwdriver and removing the 5 pegs, but after fidgeting with a screwdriver, I can't find and/or remove them.

I want to access the assembly for 2 reasons - first, I accidently pressed in the side sunglass holder's resistance roller (or something like that, it's black in color), so it popped out and is now loose in the assembly. And second, I want to take it apart and look at the wiring just to see how easy it is to install the Gentex mirror.

* Thanks in advance... WW

Yank really hard and fast on the side closest to the windshield, Get your fingers under it and in a fast hard motion pull down, Once it pops out of place pull assy towards windshield, it should then drop out.

The resistance roller is like gold. Toyota doesn't sell it by itself. So if you damaged it or loose it, you can buy a whole new overhead panel($125), or get to go to the junk yard!

Thanks JSM1284 and 05CamryGuy (PM'ed me). Worked like a charm - the assembly came off in one violent plastic-breaking sound move. Once off, you can see how the Gentex wires can easily slip into the housing from the windshield and access either the maplight or sunroof harness.

charlie_bravo, thanks for the warning. I found that black part and kissed it like gold :-)
