Camry V6 2007 hot spot?

I've noticed that the interior of our Camry sometimes has this one place which is stingily hot. It's located just under the P-R-N-D shift box (bottom left). Do anyone know anything about this? (Or possibly what's under there?)

light bulb? i have an 08 and never experienced any heat issues, i could be wrong

Yeah when i took my dash apart there was a light around that spot that lighted up the P,R,N,D. I am guessing that is what is heating it up.

The plastic trim around the shifter in that exact same area also heats up on my SE V6.

Agreed, I feel it when I rest my wrist on it, probably from the lights itself.

I think switching to an LED bulb would be a solution to this. LED makes less heat.

yea it gets warm there too on my car,

hrrrm never thought of an led bulb to replace that

Mine gets warm as well, but whats the big deal? Use it as a hand warmer in the winter, lol

There's no reason to replace it unless it gets so hot that there's a danger of fire or plastic deformation.

In my car, I can also touch it safely. It's feels like 40-50 degrees Celsius.

Light bulbs have resistance which causes them to get hot and GLOW. I thought that everyone knew that...

It's probably the light bulb that others have mentioned. I have taken apart the area under the shifter and cup holders. I don't remember seeing anything under there except the hand brake cable.

Underneath the cup holder is a great place to hide your stash...the cup holder only goes half way down to the metal... You could hide brick in there if you want.
