5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just washed my 2007 LE today, and noticed that the rubber weatherstipping (or whatever it's called) around my sunroof glass is starting to tear. This has happened within the last 2 weeks, because it wasn't there the last time I washed the car.
I'm going to call the dealer and see if there's any kind of defect or anything they can do about it. Has anybody experienced any similar problems? Does anybody have any idea what might have caused this?
You can see the tears in the lower right corner (front passenger side of the car) of the picture below.
Have you used any type of cleaning chemical on it?

Nothing other than a mild wash-and-wax soap. But its the same soap that I've been using since I bought the car in July '06; and I used it on other cars prior to that. I occasionally use Windex to clean the glass.

Do you have a cat, cause it sorta looks like it's been chewed on, especically if it's still soft.
Nope. The garage is detached, and no animals can get into it.
I went to the dealer today. They couldn't offer any reasons as to why this could have happened. They are going to replace the weatherstripping at no cost to me though, which I think is great b/c my factory warranty has elapsed (I now have just over 38k miles on the car).
