wtf happened to my stereo dash kit?

some of you might remember me posting pics of my dash kit that i painted a while back. came out pretty nice. but this is what happened to it recently. how? no clue. good thing this kit was like 15 bucks or id be pissed. does anyone know if a place like a sherwin williams paint store or somewhere will paint stuff for you? i dont have the enthusiasm to paint it again. it took me a while...

maybe its the heat from the unit thats bubbling the paint? i know on my double din it gets pretty hot when used for a long time..

what kind of paint did you use? the inside of the car gets pretty damn hot, so if the paint is not very heat resistant, you'll get that kind of bubbling.

naaa, im not buying it. its on the outside of the kit. the unit doesnt get that hot and i touch the kit constantly with my thumb cause i rest it there when i touch the touch screen. do you guys know of a place to get another one painted?

hm the kit it self is looking a little deformed. It could be from the heat. It looks like it melted a bit

I'm thinking its the oils from your thumb thats eating into the paint. If you always rest you thumb right there, thats probably the reason.

The other cause could be that the base plastic wasn't clean enough when you painted and its lifting now. What brand and type of paint did you use?

this could be a logical reason. ill buy the unclean surface bit. i used a plastic primer/paint/clearcoat. i think it was american traditions...
